Engine power is one of its most important indicators. Car enthusiasts have the opportunity to significantly increase it with the help of superficial or deep tuning.
Imagine a situation when you do not plan to change the car yet and it completely suits you, with the exception of the power indicators, agility and aggressiveness of the engine. You suddenly want speed and adrenaline in your blood. What to do? The first tip is to change the engine of your car for a more powerful unit, if only it fits the brand of your iron horse. If, for a number of reasons, this cannot be done, then you should not immediately despair.
There are a number of ways to add a dozen to one and a half "horses" to the engine, although you should immediately warn that this will significantly reduce the life of the engine. However, if you nevertheless decided on surgical intervention, then let's move on to considering the essence of the issue.
What is included in the concept of engine tuning
Engine tuning (forcing) is possible both superficial and deeper. Tuning of the first type involves carrying out procedures to facilitate the "breathing of the car", which is achieved:
1. Replacing the standard air filter with a so-called zero resistance filter. The essence of the manipulation is to significantly reduce the energy consumption, which is used to suck air into the engine.
2. Optimization of the exhaust system in order to achieve an easier passage of gases through the exhaust system. These works consist in the installation of a spider-type exhaust manifold and a so-called "direct-flow" exhaust system. I must say that in addition to a slight increase in engine power, you will get a more aggressive sound during its operation (a consequence of the "forward flow" setting), which, perhaps, will give you the required sensations.
Features of deep tuning
Are you serious about the prospect of rapid engine wear? Then you can proceed to deep tuning, that is, to a serious change in the characteristics of the power unit.
Chip tuning is most often carried out when the factory firmware is changed in the electronic control unit for supplying and adjusting the fuel mixture. With such a procedure, you can not only increase power by 15-20%, but also significantly increase the torque. It is practiced, if necessary (or at will), boring of cylinders, installation of a lightweight crankshaft and pistons. All these actions in combination can give a very serious effect (up to a twofold increase in power).
Having achieved this goal, increasing the dynamics and speed characteristics of the car, do not forget to adapt the braking system of your car and the suspension elements to the new realities.
