Incorrect operation of the hydraulic clutch of the vehicle causes inefficiency in its operation. In this case, check the operation of the master cylinder. If it is damaged, fluid leaks from it, the part should be replaced. In addition, the correct bleeding of the clutch hydraulic drive plays an important (one might say the main) role.

Necessary

  • - key 13 (head with extension);
  • - key for 8;
  • - pumping hose;
  • - brake fluid type DOT-4;
  • - a container for draining (0.5 l);
  • - screwdriver;
  • - rubber bulb.

Instructions

Step 1

Place the vehicle on a level surface. Engage first gear, apply the parking brake, block the rear and front wheels. Prepare tools for removal and installation of the clutch master cylinder.

Step 2

Take a rubber bulb and pump out the fluid from the clutch reservoir. Commonly used brake fluid such as DOT-4. If there is no rubber bulb, take a small container of 0.5-1 l (you can use a cut clean plastic bottle), loosen the clamp of the rubber hose going from the reservoir to the clutch master cylinder.

Step 3

Remove the expansion tank or set it aside. To do this, disconnect the strap of its attachment.

Step 4

Take a 10 key and disconnect the metal tubing from the clutch master cylinder. Pull it out and set it aside.

Step 5

Loosen the clutch master cylinder hose clamp and remove it. Take a 13 key and unscrew the two nuts that secure the clutch master cylinder to the car body and remove it.

Step 6

Take a new clutch master cylinder and inspect it. It should not have cracks and damage, the hose fitting must be intact (no cracks, chips) and sit tightly in the cylinder socket. Otherwise, replace its rubber seals, otherwise fluid will leak and the clutch will not work effectively. Install the new master cylinder upside-down.

Step 7

Invite an assistant to bleed the clutch. To do this, use a wrench 8, brake fluid type DOT-4, a hose for bleeding and a container for draining the fluid.

Step 8

Fill the clutch reservoir with brake fluid at the lower edge of the filler neck. Take the bleed hose and put it on the fitting that is used to bleed the clutch hydraulic actuator. The assistant should press the clutch pedal 3 times and keep it pressed. This should be done abruptly, with an interval of 2-3 s.

Step 9

Lower the free end of the pumping hose into a container of fluid. Unscrew the bleed nipple 3/4 turn. Liquid with air in the form of bubbles will begin to come out of it into the container. As soon as the flow of fluid stops, tighten the union and release the clutch pedal. Do this until there is no air in the liquid.

Step 10

Then add brake fluid to the reservoir along the lower edge of the filler neck. Screw on the clutch reservoir cap.
