After buying a car, many motorists try to somehow decorate their car, give it a more original look. One of the ways is to tune the headlights, which consists in painting the chrome-plated headlight substrate in matt black with acrylic paint. This procedure creates the visual effect of dark headlights. It looks like a tinting film has been applied to it. But before you start painting, the headlight needs to be disassembled. Since this operation is quite laborious, you should dwell on it in more detail.

Instructions

Step 1

The headlamp must be warmed up prior to disassembly. This is necessary so that the special sealant with which the headlights are sealed at the factory begins to melt. This is done to easily separate the headlamp glass from its body. It should be noted that the sealant begins to melt at about three hundred degrees Celsius. This temperature does not do much harm to the body and glass of the headlight, but at the same time allows you to easily disassemble it. It should be heated slowly, preferably with an industrial hairdryer at a distance of about two centimeters from the headlight. The best heating rate will be if you pass the headlight around its entire circumference in thirty seconds. It is recommended to perform this procedure about five times.

Step 2

However, the headlights of "Lada Priora" have one feature. They are divided into two types: Kirzhach and Bosh. If your car has the first option of headlights, then it will not be difficult to perform the above operation. If you have Bosch headlights, then here you will have to make an effort to disassemble it. This is because the glass of this headlight is attached to the body with a very hard sealant. And it is impossible to melt it without harm to the headlight itself. In this case, you need to proceed as follows. Take a mounting cutter and cut a strip of headlight housing plastic around the glass along with this sealant.

Step 3

The second and final step in the disassembly process. Pry off the headlamp glass gently with a screwdriver. Along the way, cut off the sealant layer that is under the glass itself. When you do this, you will be able to separate the headlight housing and glass. That's basically it. The headlight is disassembled.
