The roadway is dirty at any time of the year. Even in winter, the roads are treated with special anti-icing agents, and as a result, tiny droplets fly from under the wheels, which spray the car from all sides. In such conditions, it is necessary that the glass washer system works smoothly.
Necessary
Windscreen washer motor, screwdriver, wrenches, clamps, tester
Instructions
Step 1
Specify that it is the windshield washer pump that does not work. A sign of this breakdown is the absence of the characteristic buzzing when you press the window washer lever. Just in case, use a tester to check the voltage on the motor. If 12V is suitable for it, but the electric pump is silent at the same time, most likely you will have to change it.
Step 2
Sometimes in cold weather it happens that the motor freezes. For example, when the anti-freeze liquid for washing the windows turned out to be of inadequate quality. Try to warm up the electric pump. Leave your car in a warm parking lot for a few hours. Or drain all unfrozen windshield wiper and fill up a tank full of hot water. Empty it and refill the tank with hot water. The motor will warm up and work, unless, of course, it breaks down.
Step 3
Purchase a windscreen washer motor suitable for your vehicle. If in doubt, ask the store clerk.
Step 4
Drain all fluid from the washer fluid reservoir.
Step 5
Disconnect the negative cable from the vehicle's battery. Disconnect the electrical windscreen washer pump connector.
Step 6
Remove the bolts that secure the glass washer reservoir to the bracket. Raise the tank slightly so that it becomes possible to remove the hoses from the motor that connect the electric pump to the washer nozzles. Remember exactly how they were located so as not to confuse.
Step 7
Disconnect the electric pump from the reservoir.
Step 8
Put a new motor on the tank. Connect all hoses to it in the same way as they fit to the broken electric pump. Be sure to keep their original location. Otherwise, you will have to redo if you install it incorrectly.
Step 9
Attach the tank to the bracket. Connect the connector to the motor. Restore battery power.
Step 10
Fill the washer fluid reservoir with a special glass cleaner. Turn on the lever - the washer motor is humming, the windows are covered with liquid. You can wash them.
