During the operation of the car, various incidents can occur. These include damage to the side glass. This problem can be easily solved by contacting a car service, which is not entirely cheap. In case of financial difficulties, the installation of the side glass can be carried out independently.
Necessary
- - new side glass;
- - set of screwdrivers;
- - narrow brush for removing dirt;
- - clips-clips;
- - gloves.
Instructions
Step 1
Self-installation of glass begins with the removal of the door trim. Unscrew the armrest using a Phillips screwdriver. It is held in place by three screws sealed with wooden plugs. Remove the latter with a thin screwdriver.
Step 2
Then unscrew the power window drive handle, having previously removed the fixing plastic element with a thin screwdriver. After that, the drive handle easily moves away from the splined shaft.
Step 3
To free the interior door handle from the upholstery, simply remove the trim strip. The upholstery is then ready for final removal. Using a flathead screwdriver, remove the clips and separate it from the door.
Step 4
Next, you need to remove the decorative strip on top of the door. Pry off the plastic clips, unscrew the plastic chop of the lock. Then release the pad.
Step 5
Put on the window regulator handle and move it to such a position that the glass is at the bottom. Since the integrity of the glass is broken, lower its remnants - a seal and fragments. Remove them from the seat. Using a socket screwdriver, unscrew the fixing bolts on the glass guide and remove it from the door structure. Using gloves to protect your hands from cuts, remove any debris from the side glass.
Step 6
Move the window regulator to a position in which the glass should be located slightly on top. Since the glass is not there, fix it so that you can see the screws that secure the cable hold-down plate. Loosen one of them, and unscrew the other completely and bring the cable out to the side. Tilt the new side window with the upper part inside the passenger compartment and replace the damaged one. Insert it carefully into the pressure plate. Then tighten the clamping screws and reinstall in the reverse order of the glass removal procedure outlined above.
