Before you try to reinstall the steering wheel from right to left on a Japanese car, it should be remembered that this is a technically rather complicated operation that will require a lot of money and time.

Instructions

Step 1

Before moving all the components vital for the car to the left side, make room for them on the left side of the engine compartment, moving, in turn, the components located there to the right. Attach them to the metal wall (engine panel) that separates the passenger compartment from the space under the hood.

Step 2

Please note: many Japanese cars have an asymmetrical engine shield, and this is why rearranging the steering wheel from right to left is usually not technically (and financially) impractical. Indeed, in this case, you will have to actually cut the car body in half and then weld it again, after replacing the motor wall. And what about the body number then? But if these difficulties do not stop you, you may well try to move the steering wheel.

Step 3

Reposition the steering column together with the brackets and replace the steering rack, as it cannot be altered. Rearrange, together with the brackets, both the pedal group and the vacuum brake booster, re-laying the pipes passing to it. Reinstall the clutch master cylinder (also with the pipes) and the throttle cable.

Step 4

Refit the car interior. Change the dashboard, heating, air conditioning and ventilation system, if possible. But usually the replacement does not give full-fledged results.

Step 5

Transfer the tubes suitable for the "stove" and the air conditioner in the engine compartment. Please note: it is likely that they will have to be either shortened or increased. Replace the wiper drive and the optics as they are nearly impossible to rebuild to function properly after the steering wheel has been moved.

Step 6

Remember that after such a complex and expensive operation, even if it was performed in an elite service, there can be no question of considering a car with the steering wheel rearranged from right to left safe enough.
