In some cases, it becomes necessary to reduce the rotation speed of the disc in the optical drive in order to reduce the noise level and keep the disc from possible damage. Since this cannot be done using standard operating system tools, you have to resort to the help of third-party programs.
Instructions
Step 1
Use the popular CDSlow speed reduction utility. Go to the official website of the program at https://cdslow.webhost.ru and download the current version of the application. After downloading the installation file, complete the installation and run the utility. A CD-shaped icon will appear on the system tray in the system tray.
Step 2
Insert a disc into your optical drive and run the application from it. Click on the CDSlow utility icon and select the desired disk rotation speed in the drive from the context menu. For example, to ensure smooth operation of an application from disk, it is enough to "reset" the drive speed to 16 or 24 speeds. Depending on the type of device, there may be several digital values of speed modes.
Step 3
If for some reason CDSlow does not detect your optical drive type, try Opti Drive Control. It also allows you to control the rotational speed of the disc in the CD / DVD drive, but unlike the completely free CDSlow utility, you will have to pay about 20 euros to continue using Opti Drive Control for more than 30 days.
Step 4
Download the trial version of the program on the official website of the developers at www.cdspeed2000.com and install it on your computer. After launching the application, click the Continue button in the dialog box and insert the disc into the optical drive. The program will determine all possible speeds of its rotation. To select the required one, press the Speed button in the main program window and set the required value.
