Step 1
First, inspect your car. Dents come in different types, and there are different ways to fix them as well. You need to understand how much the body is deformed. Choose a place where you will perform all procedures. It is best to first inspect the vehicle in daylight and repair it in a closed garage. However, you need to take care of good lighting in the garage itself. In addition to fluorescent lamps, you will also need a portable lamp so that you can view the damaged area from different angles.

If the dent is small and there is no break in the paintwork, then it can be repaired without mechanical intervention. To do this, clean the damaged area from dirt. Take a hair dryer and heat the damaged area with smooth circular motions. After the surface heats up, take a can of compressed air and spray it on the damaged area. When hot metal and cold compressed air come into contact, the metal will begin to take its original shape and the dent will disappear. Then wipe the metal with a dry cloth.
Step 3
If the dent is significant, you can try tapping out the metal. To do this, gently tap the damaged area with a rubber mallet on the reverse side. It is best to purchase a set of rubber hammers in different shapes and sizes so that dents can be fixed in different places. If the place is hard to reach with a hammer, then try to straighten the metal with special hooks. Auto shops sell sets of metal straightening hooks in various sizes, lengths and shapes. After straightening the dent with a crochet hook or rubber mallet, polish the straightened surface.

In the event that the dent is significant, tapping alone will not help. If the dent has led to a violation of the paintwork, then only painting will help. The metal needs to be straightened first. Tap it out and pull it out. If the deformation is very difficult, then for leveling, attach a wooden block wrapped in rags to the back of the metal, and begin to knock out the metal with a strong force until it is completely aligned. After that, treat the repaired surface with sandpaper of different calibers - from the largest to the smallest. Prime the surface and paint thoroughly in several coats. It remains only to apply varnish and let it dry.
