The famous "penny" - VAZ 2101 - at the time of its appearance in the early 70s of the last century was considered the most reliable and comfortable car in the USSR. Its prototype was the Italian Fiat 124. But not all motorists who still own this car are satisfied with the window on the front door, so glass from another model, VAZ 2105 or 2107, is often installed on it.

  • - metal latches and tips;
  • - brackets 4 pcs.;
  • - grinder or hacksaw for metal;
  • - small clamping plates for the cable, which are screwed to the glass bracket - 2 pcs.

Instructions

Step 1

Get everything you need from a car store. Disassemble the front side door. To do this, remove the door handle and the window regulator handle, it is removed with a screwdriver or a special puller. Lower the glass a little and unscrew the cable holding the bracket, then open the glass completely. Remove the door trim. Remove the anthers. Carefully rotate the glass 90 degrees and carefully remove it through the formed upper slot. Unscrew the guide that goes from the window post, then the screws that secure the window to the frame. Take out the entire unit with the vent together.

Step 2

Take a grinder or a hacksaw for metal. Cut the lintel on which the triangle of the window rests. It is located between the foams inside the door.

Step 3

Fit the plastic triangle under the mirror. Insert it tightly into the door frame, drive it into a corner and fix it well in place with a self-tapping screw, drill a hole in the triangle for it beforehand. Fasten the self-tapping screw through the hole where the window frame was previously attached.

Step 4

To make a support for the rail bracket, cut out a plug from the metal sheet, which will close the window in the reinforcement. Insert the guide into the groove in the triangle. Put new velvet tapes in the door frame and in the guides. Cut off the protruding ends.

Step 5

Install the power windows, secure them by drilling two holes in the door fittings. Screw the brackets into the window regulator bracket, but do not insert the rubber pads yet, just try on the glass by inserting it through the frame and closing it completely. Use a marker to mark the place where the staples are located. Dismantle the window regulator bracket, remove the glass.

Step 6

Cut the strips of raw rubber along the length of the staples and immerse them in gasoline for 5 minutes to restore the properties of the rubber. Immediately after that, attach the rubber to the glass according to the marks, and install the brackets on top and, lightly tapping with a wooden block or mallet, hammer them onto the glass until it stops. Wait half an hour for the rubber to dry.

Step 7

Install the glass through the frame. If this is difficult, slightly push the door foams apart, carefully so as not to deform them. Place the glass in the upper position and fit the window lifter by screwing it to the brackets on the glass. Secure the door trim. To prevent it from moving, fix it by screwing the doorknob into place. Place the mirror on the triangle and put the cap on the door handle.
