It happens that you witnessed an accident, or you yourself got into an accident, and the driver fled the scene and you only have a car number. You can find out the owner by contacting the traffic police.
Instructions
Step 1
There are many cases when it is necessary to find out information about the owner of a car. For example, you got into a traffic accident, and the culprit fled, or the car you bought in the car market may presumably be listed in theft. Most often, you only have the make of the car and its registration number at your disposal, but this data will be enough.
Step 2
If the car is a participant in a traffic accident and escaped, but you remember the number, do not leave the scene of the accident, but call the traffic police and draw up an offense report, on the basis of which the owner and his car will be put on the wanted list. Alternatively, contact the relevant authorities in order to determine who owns the car and state the reason for contacting verbally as well as in writing.
Step 3
Make a request-statement according to the standard template that will be offered to you in the traffic police, or you can independently find it on the official website of the traffic police. Be sure to indicate the position and last name, first name, patronymic of the official to whom you are applying, as well as your data in the header of the document. In the main text of the request, indicate the reason for which you are applying, as well as the purpose you are pursuing. Based on your application, an offense report will be drawn up, and the specified car number will be checked against the database.
Step 4
Information that discloses the data of the owner of the car can be issued to the federal tax service on the basis of the "Regulations on the interaction of departments of the state traffic police and tax authorities when submitting information about vehicles and persons on which they are registered" dated 31.10.2008 N 948 / MM- 3-6 / 561. Such data are not disclosed to third parties.
