Pay attention to typical defects such as dips, jerks, jerks during acceleration. In most cases, the warning lamp on the instrument panel does not come on. Begin troubleshooting by checking the spark plugs. The problem may be precisely in them. They can be “killed” in a short time by poor gasoline. Replace them if necessary.

Step 2

If, after replacing the spark plugs, the malfunction remains, then you should pay attention to the ignition module. If you have an eight-valve engine, then you can find this module in the front at the bottom of the cylinder block. If the engine is sixteen-valve, then you can see the module on top of the block head. You will need a motor tester to carry out diagnostics. With its help, you can take the characteristics of the secondary voltage and calculate the malfunctions of the module. If it is not possible to use this device, then simply replace the suspected units with known serviceable ones.

There is also another common defect - floating idle speed. In this case, the tachometer needle will walk in the range of 850–1,200 rpm. The control lamp may also be off. The reason is the throttle position sensor. It is located on the pipe. Good quality sensors are installed on the latest brands of VAZ cars. However, they can also fail.

Step 4

It is customary to start the injection engine without pressing the gas pedal. However, if your car does not start like this, then you need to look for the cause. Most often, the idle speed regulator is to blame. It is located on the throttle pipe next to the DPDZ. Before changing it, flush the regulator well with carburetor cleaner. If the defect remains, replace the sensor. On the market, you can purchase a domestic and imported idle speed regulator. Imported models are about twice as expensive as domestic ones.
