In order to prevent damage to the generator, it is necessary to monitor the voltage in the on-board network. For this, a voltmeter is best suited, which remains correctly connected. Let's consider how to do this using the example of the VAZ-2106.
Instructions
Step 1
Decide where to install the new instrument on the panel. The place where the standard watch is installed is best suited for this. So, find a voltmeter, for example, a regular one from UAZ or a VAZ one from more recent models. Prepare a wire about half a meter long and a female terminal.
Step 2
Disconnect the battery to avoid short circuits and damage to electrical equipment. First, carefully remove the watch from the dashboard. To do this, disconnect the wiring and remove the socket with a backlight lamp. Do not forget to remove the O-ring, which will be useful later for installing the voltmeter.
Step 3
Connect a voltmeter to the positive terminal of the lamp in the glove compartment. Power is supplied to this lamp only when the ignition is turned on, so the voltmeter will not idle. Do not use the "plus" from the clock in any case, because there is a direct current flowing there. In this situation, the device is capable of discharging the battery even during long-term parking with the engine off.
Step 4
Pull the wire through the pre-drilled hole from the watch to the wall of the glove compartment. Remove the supply wire from the lamp and attach a wire of the required length to it, at the opposite end of which fix the “female” terminal. After that, remove the mount from the voltmeter and try to install it in the hole. If it dangles, wrap it several times with electrical tape at the base and put on the O-ring.
Step 5
Connect the black wire from the watch to the negative terminal of the voltmeter, and to the "plus" - wire with a terminal of the "female" type. Insulate the remaining red wire from the clock with electrical tape. Insert the voltmeter into the hole and secure it. Turn on the ignition and look at the device - it should show the on-board voltage. If the voltage drops when the engine is turned on again, remember that this indicates a low battery charge.
