Step 1

The driver's license must be replaced every 10 years. All documents required to replace the rights are specified in paragraph 38 of the RF PP instruction. If your license has expired, then you must submit to the traffic police an expired license, a passport, an application, a driver's personal card, 4 3x4 photos with a left corner, a certificate of passing the medical examination 083 / U-89, a temporary permit, if you received it, a receipt for payment of the state duty. You will take exams only if your license was obtained in the former republics of the USSR after January 1, 1992.

Step 2

There are no penalties for expired licenses, but if you use them, it will be equated to driving without a license. The car can be taken to a penalty parking lot, and you will be brought to administrative responsibility and may be deprived of the opportunity to change your license for up to three years.

Step 3

If your license has expired and you have not driven a car for 12 months or more, then you will be offered to retake both the theoretical exam and the practical exam. The practical exam will ask you to pass in category B, C or D, even if additional categories are open.

Step 4

If you want to replace expired rights and at the same time your full name has changed, present a document confirming the new name, for example, a certificate from the registry office, a marriage or divorce certificate.

Step 5

If, when replacing the certificate, the inspector has doubts about the authenticity of your expired rights, then the issuance may be suspended for up to two months until all the circumstances are clarified. In all other cases, the rights are issued within one to three days, depending on the region. For this period, a temporary permit is issued so that the driver can drive the vehicle during the period of the license replacement.
