It is good if you have at your disposal such necessary equipment as a special lift for a car - its use will greatly facilitate the process of dismantling and removing the generator.
- You should start any work on the car generator only after the ground cable is disconnected from the battery. Many cars equipped with a modern "electric device", in the event of a battery disconnection, require the subsequent re-entry of the security code of the radio receiver; in addition, all accumulated data is erased from the engine fault memory. Therefore, take care to save them in advance, before disconnecting the ground cable.
- After that, it is necessary to raise the front of the car and carefully unscrew the exhaust pipe of the muffler.
- Now you can turn off the vacuum hoses, the clamps must first be loosened and slightly moved. The oil hoses must also be disconnected; If oil starts to leak during the disconnection process, try to collect it with a rag as soon as possible. To protect the surrounding parts from escaping oil, cover them with a piece of cloth or tarpaulin beforehand. Even if you do it very carefully, a small amount of oil is still likely to leak out.
- Disconnect the multi-pin plug (located behind the generator). Now you need to unscrew the main cable and remove the V-belt.
- It remains only to unscrew the bolts with which the generator is attached to the bracket, as well as the bolts that you will see on the tension bracket. After that, the generator can be removed - for this, it is enough to carefully remove it from below.
