The asynchronous motor can be single-phase with a starting element or single-phase capacitor. One of the advantages of a capacitor motor is the absence of a starting device, which is necessary for a single-phase circuit to turn off the starting winding after the motor accelerates.

It is necessary

  • - engine;
  • - capacitors;
  • - calculator;
  • - instruments.

Instructions

Step 1

Examine the engine carefully. In the event that it has six pins with jumpers, check in which order they are installed. If the engine has six leads and there is no block, the leads must be assembled in two bundles, and the beginning of the windings must be collected in one bundle, and the ends in the second.

Step 2

In the event that the engine has only three leads, disassemble the motor: remove the cover from the side of the shoe and find the connection of the three wires in the windings. Then disconnect these three wires together, solder the lead wires to them and combine them into a bundle. Subsequently, these six wires will be delta connected.

Step 3

Calculate the approximate capacitance of the capacitor. To do this, substitute the values into the formula: Cmcf = P / 10, in which Cmcf is the capacity of one capacitor in microfarads, P is the rated power (in watts). And what's more important: the operating voltage of the capacitor must be high.

Step 4

Please note: if you turn on volt capacitors in a serial connection method, then half of the capacitance will be "lost", but the voltage will double. A battery of the required capacity can be assembled from a pair of such capacitors.

Step 5

When connecting capacitors, take into account their peculiarity: the fact is that after disconnecting the capacitors, they retain voltage at the terminals for a long time. In view of this, such capacitors pose a danger to life, because the risk of electric shock is too high.

Step 6

Starting resistance Rn is determined empirically. To increase the torque while starting the engine, simultaneously with the working capacitor, connect the starting capacitor (it is connected in parallel with the working one). Calculate the capacity of the starting capacitor by the formula: Cn = (from 2, 5 to 3) Cp, in which Cp is the capacity of the working capacitor.
