Many car owners are faced with the problem of transporting boats. This issue can be resolved if you have a trailer that you can make yourself, but observing the existing requirements so that there are no troubles during registration.
Instructions
Step 1
When making a trailer, use only original parts. The width of the trailer should be no more than 2.5 m, and the length - no more than 7.5 meters.
Step 2
The brakes must be installed on one or both axles. For each part used in the assembly of the trailer, there must be a corresponding document confirming their origin. This is related to road safety.
Step 3
Take as a basis a structure with a welded frame made of round thin-walled steel pipes and a leaf spring suspension with additional hydraulic shock absorbers that act as lateral vibration dampers. Make a detailed drawing and purchase all the necessary materials.
Step 4
Weld the frame to the drawbar from the pipes. Draw the drawbar from a pipe with a larger diameter. This element should consist of three parts: the extension cord used when transporting the boat; standard towing hitch, and the drawbar itself, reinforced with struts.
Step 5
The geometry of the connecting flanges must be completely identical to the coupling flange. Weld them to the inserts, which are fixed in the pipes with two bolts, protecting them from axial movement and twisting.
Step 6
On the rear of the frame, construct a retractable bumper with lighting equipment, and also install a panel for mounting a license plate. When transporting the boat, the bumper extends beyond the transom board and is perfectly visible to drivers moving behind. Telescopic bumper rails are bolted into the frame side members.
Step 7
The boat will be mounted on a trailer on bow cradles, which are located on the drawbar extension, which are attached with easily removable locks to the rear and front cross-beams of the frame. The body is connected to the frame in the same way. Additionally, the boat is attracted to the cradle by means of special straps.
Step 8
The wheel axle is presented in the form of a tubular axle in which the trunnions are firmly seated. They are equipped with wheel hubs through single-row tapered roller bearings of two sizes. Anthers protect the bearing units on both sides. The axle is suspended from the frame longitudinal beams using five-leaf springs.
Step 9
Axles of axles when moving heavy loads are placed above the springs to reduce the height of the center of gravity and stability of the trailer. The damper should tilt slightly forward to reduce and prevent stem breakage.
Step 10
The body is a frame with struts made of rectangular pipes, which are sheathed with duralumin sheets.
