The procedure for sealing car speedometers has not changed since 1987. Until now, there is a corresponding instruction of the Ministry of Aviation Transport of the RSFSR, which establishes the procedure for sealing speedometers on cars.
Instructions
Step 1
All domestic and foreign vehicles in service are subject to mandatory sealing. If the speedometer is defective, the vehicle must not be operated. A mandatory requirement for a speedometer is its compliance with state standards. All new cars under warranty must have factory-sealed speedometers. If during the warranty period a violation of the seal is found, then you draw up a joint act with a representative of the uninterested party indicating the reasons for the seal, the date and speedometer readings. Be sure to make sure that the seal has a clear image on one side of the name of the enterprise, and on the other - the date and number of the stamp.
Step 2
If you are filling yourself, then pay attention to the filling itself and its tail. The seal on the speedometer must correspond to the established form, made of lead, mechanically strong, with a securely clamped wire, preventing disassembly and movement. Before sealing, make sure that all parts of the speedometer meet technical standards and do not have alterations and traces of penetration inside. If defects are found, the defective parts should be replaced.
Step 3
Release the seal from the tie-down clip (often rubber bands) and place the ends of the tail in the lugs of the speedometer cover so that the wire is behind the cover and the lead plate is in front of it.
Step 4
Twist the tail wire and tighten it with a clamping device, fix with a plate, remove the protective element. Ready.
Step 5
Check the speedometer daily on the move. If you see that the needle of the speedometer deviates, and the drum with the index numbers rotates, then the speedometer is functioning. To service a power-driven speedometer, first check that the flex shaft is securely attached to the speedometer and gearbox and that the flex shaft is intact.
Step 6
Make sure the nuts are fully tightened and the flex shaft is braced. If your vehicle has an electric speedometer, be sure to check that the sensor and speedometer wires are securely fastened. If there is any damage, repair it, secure the wires if the fastening is loose.
