Any car enthusiast has encountered a change of a flat tire at least once in his life. And it always comes as an unpleasant surprise. For those who have recently been driving, this can generally be a disaster. Therefore, it is best to study in advance how you still need to correctly install the spare wheel.
Necessary
- - jack;
- - warning triangle;
- - bricks, stones;
- - a special wrench for tightening the nuts.
Instructions
Step 1
If your car has a manual transmission, be sure to set it to the parking brake. This is necessary to comply with safety regulations. After all, an unsecured car can easily roll at the most crucial moment and cause great damage to the health of its owner. Also, be sure to install an emergency sign behind the car at a distance of at least 15 meters within the city and at least 30 m in the suburbs (clause 7.2 of the SDA of the Russian Federation).
Step 2
Take out the jack and spare wheel. Additionally, secure the car by placing it under the wheels located on the opposite side of the damaged one. To do this, just put a brick or a large stone under the tires. This will prevent the machine from rolling away.
Step 3
Unscrew the nuts that secure the wheel. This should be done before placing the vehicle on the jack. Then install the lifting device under the threshold of the car and gently lift the car above the ground - 5-10 cm. Now proceed to remove the wheel. Consider the fact that if you are doing this for the first time on this car, you will have to make some effort, since it could additionally be fixed with a layer of dust and dirt, as well as by increasing temperatures while driving.
Step 4
It is best to initially put the spare tire next to you so that you do not have to run around the car, taking out the not-so-light additional wheel from the car standing on a slope on a jack. After removing the damaged one, immediately put on the spare tire. Check it out. If done correctly, it will not dangle and wiggle back and forth. The spare wheel must be clearly fixed even without the nuts being tightened.
Step 5
Put the fixing nuts in place and tighten them with a special wrench. This must be done crosswise - first the upper, then the lower and vice versa. Then lower the car to the ground. Pull out the jack and check again that the nuts are secure. Do not forget to remove all additional funds from under the car - stones, bricks, etc. Now you can go to any tire shop to have your main wheel repaired.
