The advantages of installing pre-heaters in the cold season are obvious: easy engine start, quick reaching of operating temperature, reduced wear and fuel consumption for warming up the car, and reduced emissions of toxic substances. Many people liked the first autonomous heaters developed by Webasto specialists, so the company name even became a household name - Webasto. Still, installing a Webasto standalone liquid heater is not easy.
Necessary
Webasto preheater, control unit, timer, fuel metering pump, fuses, hoses, wires, cables, clamps, screws, anti-corrosion grease, clamps, drill, torque wrench, coolant container, coolant
Instructions
Step 1
Disconnect and remove the battery. Remove the air filter, absorber and engine underbody protection.
Step 2
Open the fuel tank cap, ventilate. Remove the rear seat from the passenger compartment.
Step 3
Mark the position of the bracket with the starting heater. Mount it vertically in the engine compartment on the side of the gas tank. Drill mounting holes. Fasten the bracket with screws after removing Webasto. Attach the starting heater in place.
Step 4
Connect Webasto to the vehicle's cooling circuit. Tighten the hose clamps with a torque of 2.0 + 0.5 Nm. Clamp the hose connecting the engine to the radiator of the interior heater with clamps. Place a container under this place to drain the antifreeze. Cut the hose.
Step 5
Connect the coolant hose from the engine to the inlet to the preheater. Connect the hose coming from Webasto to the end that goes to the radiator inlet of the interior heater. Use the connecting plastic pipes and clamps supplied with the preheater.
Step 6
Make an exhaust outlet. Use a clamp to put the exhaust pipe on the exhaust pipe of the preheater with a clamp. Route it from the heater to the front wall of the body so that it does not touch rubber and plastic parts. Point the slice down. Secure with a cable tie.
Step 7
Insert the Webasto T-piece into the fuel return line and tighten the hose clamps. Lay the fuel line to the pre-heater in such a way as to protect it from abrasion and mechanical damage. Attach the hose with plastic clamps to the body parts.
Step 8
Install the Webasto fuel pump using the supplied metal plate, shock absorber and rubber band. Connect the pump to the already laid fuel hose and to the fuel connection of the preheater using connecting pipes and clamps.
Step 9
Route the electric cable from the heater to the fuel pump and connect it using the plug.
Step 10
Fasten the Webasto control unit in as dry and clean place as possible using the plate and screws. Connect the Webasto heater to the controller.
Step 11
Attach the Webasto fuse holder holders with self-tapping screws. Put a shoe on them.
Step 12
Replace the battery. Connect the power supply to the Webasto preheater.
Step 13
Connect the battery. Reinstall everything that was dismantled at the beginning of the work. Check all hoses, lines, wires, connectors and connections for tightness. Fasten what is poorly fixed.
Step 14
Start the engine, remove the air plug from the cooling system. Turn off the engine. Add coolant.
Step 15
Turn on the interior heating for heating and start the car again.
