Car window tinting film may need to be removed for various reasons. One of the most significant is the unwillingness to pay fines in connection with their increase for exceeding the standards of GOST on the light transmission of windshield and front side windows. On September 23, 2010, a law came into force raising the fine for this violation to 500 rubles. If there is no desire or opportunity to remove tinting in a car service, which can cost 1000 rubles, then this operation can be performed by yourself.
Necessary
heater, thermometer, blade, detergent, clean rag
Instructions
Step 1
Drive the machine to a location with an electrical outlet. Before removing the tint film from the glass, it must be heated to approximately forty degrees. Use a household hairdryer or heat gun for this. Do not overheat the glass. The film can melt and then you have to scrape it off the glass.
Step 2
Heat the entire glass evenly. Do not bring a heating device close to the glass during heating, as too much heating at one point can crack the glass, like a glass from strong boiling water.
Step 3
After the glass heats up to about forty degrees (slightly above body temperature), pick up any sharp object, razor blade, knife, etc. and pick up the top corner of the film.
Step 4
Pull the plastic at the corner diagonally from top to bottom. This should be done slowly, without sudden jerks. The film should peel off, leaving a minimum of glue and no breaks. You can warm up the place of contact of the film with the glass with a warm jet from a hair dryer during the process of its shrinking.
Step 5
Even a properly removed film leaves a certain amount of glue on the glass. Take a dry cloth, detergent and remove any traces of glue from the glass. The services use dishwashing detergents. These tools quite effectively cope with this task.
