Buying a car is a very troublesome business, but it will not be completed until the newly-made owner passes the mandatory procedure for state registration of the vehicle.
Car registration is required when purchasing both a new car and a used one. If the car was bought abroad, then it must be registered within two months, and until that time you can drive with transit numbers. When registering a car, it is checked for participation in an accident, for theft, etc. This enables future owners to be aware of the history of the car they are going to purchase.
Before going through the registration procedure, you need to make sure that you have all the necessary documents. First of all, you will be required to have a sales contract or a certificate of account, that is, a document confirming the fact of buying a car. Together with the contract or certificate, you will need to provide originals and copies of the identification code and passport of the vehicle owner, transit numbers, old registration certificate, an extract from the car deregistration, if it is registered for the first time, as well as an insurance policy.
When all the documents are in your hands, you can get into the car subject to registration and go to the Interdistrict Registration and Examination Departments. Here you will be given an application form, after completing which, you need to obtain an assessment report for the vehicle and an expert, pay the mandatory fees, go through the verification by unit numbers, pick up the act and go to the registration window, having a full package of documents and receipts. After some time, you will be given a new technical passport and state numbers (usually no more than a day).
When registering a new car, do not forget to take transit numbers with you. When registering used cars, you must have a donation, purchase and sale agreement, exchange agreement, etc.
You can also register a car through the dealership where the purchase was made, however, this will not save the owner of the car from additional waste.
