Necessary

  • - alternative optics;
  • - set of tools;
  • - cotton gloves.

Instructions

Step 1

Carefully read the labels on the alternative optics box, as well as the installation instructions, if any. The main requirement for the installed spare parts is the complete identity of the housings, otherwise it will not be possible to correctly install the new optics.

Step 2

Open the hood and disconnect the negative terminal block from the battery. This is to reduce the risk of a short circuit to zero, as you will be disconnecting the headlight connectors.

Step 3

Remove the central radiator grill by unscrewing all the screws that secure it. On some vehicles, the headlights can be removed without removing the center grille.

Step 4

Locate the wiring blocks on the back of the headlamp housing. Detach them carefully and set aside. It is best to wrap each shoe in a clean cloth to prevent dirt from clogging up.

Step 5

Find all screws and bolts on the top and back of the case. Unscrew them, having previously marked the location of each. The bolts can vary in width or length. If you install them incorrectly when reassembling, you will damage the threads.

Step 6

Grasp the headlamp housing and carefully lift it out of the recess. Check the integrity of the glass and plastic parts.

Step 7

Clean the headlamp socket thoroughly. Remove the alternative optics from the packaging. Try on one of the headlights. Make sure that there are no grooves or other holes between the headlamp housing and the walls of the hole. If the optics are of poor quality, gaps may form. They can be corrected by filing the plastic or making a special gasket.

Step 8

Install the new headlamp unit and secure it with the bolts. After that, connect the wiring blocks on the back. Perform the same manipulations with the second headlamp unit. Check the strength of the fasteners.

Step 9

Connect the negative terminal to the car battery and check the functionality of the new optics. Please be aware that technical inspection is not possible with most alternative headlights.
