Step 1
Check the fuel pump. To do this, remove the outlet hose from its fitting and sharply press the manual fuel pumping valve several times. If a stream of gasoline does not appear from the fitting, then the fuel pump is defective. In addition, when operating the vehicle in hot weather, the fuel pump valve may stick. Stop, cool his body with a wet rag.
Step 2
Remove the fuel pump from the vehicle. In this case, you need to be careful and careful, follow all the rules and recommendations when servicing the car. Loosen the tightening of the clamps located on the supply and return fuel hoses. To do this, use a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the hoses from the fuel pump fittings. Be careful as gasoline leakage is possible. To prevent this from happening, close the holes in the hoses with M8 bolts.
Step 3
Take an open-end wrench for 13. Unscrew the outer adjusting washer, the heat-insulating spacer that comes with the pusher. Do not forget about the second gasket, which you mark so that during assembly it would not be confused with the first. Dismantle the fuel pump.
Step 4
Disassemble the fuel pump, before that wash it with kerosene and wipe it off with a dry cloth. When disassembling the fuel pump, unscrew the cap fixing bolt, remove it and the filter. Then unscrew the fastening screws of the case to the cover, separate them. Remove the spring and diaphragm assembly. Inspect the diaphragm, if damaged, replace it. One of the signs of its damage is a strong smell of fuel in the engine compartment. Leaks from the drain hole may be seen on the fuel pump housing. In this case, it is prohibited to continue operating the vehicle.
Step 5
Replace the pusher. To do this, remove the thermal insulation with the pump pusher inside. Replace with the pusher and shims. Their thickness is 0.3 mm, 0.7 mm, and 1.2 mm. To determine the required one, turn the crankshaft to select the maximum size of the pusher. Observe the rule that a gasket of 0.27-0.33mm must be placed between the cylinder block and the heat-insulating spacer.
