There are times when the clutch is not completely disengaged due to air trapped in the hydraulic line. In this case, the check shows normal free pedal travel. To remove trapped air from the hydraulic drive, bleeding of the clutch is necessary.

Instructions

Step 1

Before bleeding the clutch, fill the supply reservoir of the hydraulic drive with fluid to the normal level, that is, to a level of 1-1.5 cm from the upper edge. Clean the air release valve of the slave cylinder from dirt and dust. Remove the protective cap from its head and put on it the rubber hose from the MAZ accessory kit.

Step 2

Immerse the free end of the fitted hose into the hydraulic fluid, which has been previously poured into a liter container up to the middle. Then press the clutch pedal 3-4 times with an interval of 1-2 seconds between presses. The first time the pedal is depressed, keep the pedal recessed and unscrew the air release valve ½ or ¾ turn. With further pushes, the pressure created in the brake line will expel part of the fluid from the system, along with the air contained in it, into the can with brake fluid through the hose. Stop the procedure as soon as air bubbles stop coming out.

Step 3

While pumping, monitor the fluid level in the supply tank and add as needed. The fluid level should not drop more than 2/3 of the normal. Measure the volume of fluid displaced by pressing the clutch pedal once, which should be 7-8 cc. After finishing pumping, add fluid to a normal level (1-1.5 cm from the top edge) and turn the air release valve all the way with the clutch pedal recessed. Remove the hose from the head and screw the protective cap onto it.

Step 4

At the end of pumping, measure the maximum stroke of the pneumohydraulic booster, which should be at least 18 mm. The maximum misalignment of the rod overhang while pressing the clutch pedal should be no more than 1.5 from the initial state. Make sure the clutch pad wear sensor tip does not protrude from the booster air cylinder housing. If necessary, push it into the protective cover until it touches.
