Xenon is one of the most powerful light sources today. Other advantages of this type of lamp include a long service life and high vibration resistance.
In most cases, a car owner who wants to install a xenon light kit on his car turns to a car service specialist for help. However, it often happens that a person decides to cope with this task himself. As practice shows, armed with the necessary knowledge, you can connect xenon in just a couple of hours.
General information
First you need to know that xenon light has a very negative effect on the eyes of the driver driving in the oncoming lane. Such light can instantly blind a person, thereby provoking a dangerous situation on the road.
In order to reduce the risk of such a situation, along with a xenon kit, you should install an automatic headlight angle corrector and a headlamp washer (if there is none) on your car. The corrector is necessary in order to ensure an instant deflection of the "beam" of light at every change in the road relief. The washer helps to keep the headlamp glass clean, as a result of which the dirt accumulated on the glass will not "wash out" the powerful xenon light and dazzle everyone who moves on the opposite lane of the road.
When choosing xenon, you should give preference to the lighting kit that has the same type of base as the standard optics of the car. Thus, by installing a xenon kit suitable for all parameters, it will not be necessary to modify the standard optics of the car.
Xenon connection
Before proceeding with the installation of the xenon light kit, you should carefully familiarize yourself with the connection diagram. The manufacturer always encloses this diagram. The usual procedure for further actions is as follows.
The headlights and protective covers of the halogen lamps are removed. For the xenon wiring, a hole is drilled in the headlight housing, and the plastic chips formed as a result of drilling are removed. A rubber ring is inserted into the hole, xenon headlights are fixed.
The xenon wiring is connected to the ignition unit (sometimes this unit is called the ballast). The wire from the ignition unit is connected to the car wiring (to the halogen lamp cable socket).
The ignition unit is installed in the engine compartment, so that there is no great tension on the wires. The unit should be installed as far as possible from the engine, in a place away from moisture.
Important: the installation of xenon lamps should be done carefully. To avoid electric shock, it is advisable to keep your hands away from water or any other liquid.
