The air filter of the car has sealing gum around the entire perimeter. In this case, the air passing through it is first cleaned, after which it enters the mass air flow sensor (MAF) and only after that into the engine. According to the instructions, the air filter must be changed every 30 thousand km. But, as practice shows, it is necessary to do this much more often.
Necessary
- - crosshead screwdriver;
- - flat screwdriver;
- - pliers;
- - wrench.
Instructions
Step 1
A dirty air filter significantly increases fuel consumption, for this reason, most car owners change it almost every 2 thousand km.
Step 2
Before proceeding with the removal of the filter, you need to find it. It is located under the hood, in a black square box. Then disconnect the vehicle from the power supply. To do this, disconnect the power cable harness connector from the MAF sensor.
Step 3
Then disconnect the sleeve from the sensor. To do this, using a Phillips screwdriver, loosen the clamping clamp and pull the sleeve off the branch pipe. It often happens that the sensor must be removed along with the filter. To dismantle it, unscrew the two fastening bolts with a screwdriver. The sensor is removed either to replace it, or if the air filter is to be repaired. Therefore, if you do not remove the filter for replacement, then there is no need to change the sensor. Remove the O-ring from the sensor before removing it.
Step 4
Now, using pliers, remove the rubber mounts of the air filter housing. To do this, pull the feet up. Then, remove the tip of the air intake hose from the bracket. After that, carefully remove the air filter housing, and then the air intake hose from the adapter spacer.
Step 5
This completes the work on removing the air filter. When it is repaired or replaced, install the filter in reverse order.
