The interior heater or, in the popular way, the stove is one of the most necessary elements of comfort and convenience when driving in the cool and cold seasons. The heat supply is regulated by remote control of the heater tap. In VAZ 2101-2107 cars, this is one of the weak points of the cooling system. Therefore, it is required to monitor it and in case of leakage, immediately replace it.

Necessary

  • - keys for 7, 10;
  • - new heater tap.

Instructions

Step 1

Drain the coolant from the engine system. Loosen the clamps on the outlet and supply hoses of the heater. Remove them from the pipes. In the event that the tap is changed due to leaks, then, most likely, excess coolant has already flowed into the car interior. This will be noticeable if the carpet is lifted from the passenger side. In addition, when the stove is operating, cool or cold air will blow from the air ducts. There will also be a smell of coolant inside the vehicle. Unscrew the two self-tapping screws with the “7” key. Remove the rubber seal. Unscrew the self-tapping screws carefully so as not to damage the plastic mounting slots. Remove the glove box housing.

Step 2

Unscrew the nut of the air duct bracket with a 10 key. Use a screwdriver to disengage the latches on the heater housing. Pull out the right air duct. It is made of a sufficiently plastic material, so that if necessary, the duct can be "folded" a little.

Step 3

Loosen the bolt of the flexible cable fastening bracket on the tap with a wrench "7". Disconnect it. Unscrew with a key "10" two nuts that secure the tap to the heater radiator. On radiators with plastic tanks, the heater tap is fastened with two bolts, which are screwed into the cage nuts. Usually, when disassembling, the bottom one will always fall out. During the assembly process, unfasten the two spring latches that secure the fan housing from the crane side. Then slightly lower the body down, put the nut in place, fix it (with a screwdriver or finger), and then screw in the bolt.

Step 4

Remove the tap. Assemble in reverse order. Install a new heater valve, move the bracket for securing the drive rod from the old valve to it. During installation, replace all rubber gaskets with new ones. Before that, coat them with automotive sealant. After replacing and installing the stove tap, add coolant to the system. Start the engine, bring the temperature to 90 degrees, open the heater tap and check for leaks.
