Replacing racks on the Priore
Remember to install wheel chocks before removing the front wheels. Which side is more convenient for you, start with that. So, first we remove the wheel, the whole picture will open in front of you. First of all, we pull the cotter pin out of the tie rod end, unscrew the nut. We put on the puller and carefully press the finger out of the hole in the steering knuckle.
After getting rid of cravings, you can move on. Remove the two bolts that secure the strut to the hub. Just before that, move the brake hose aside. Under the hood, you can see that the support bearing is attached to the body with three nuts; unscrew them boldly. Everything, now the rack freely leaves its niche. It only remains to disassemble it.
To disassemble it, tighten the spring with a puller and unscrew the nut from the stem. The bearing must be replaced, it will not be useful to you. But the metal washers and spring will need to be installed on a new rack. We take it, extend the stem completely, put on the spring, and then the thrust washer. Next, put the bearing, washer, tighten. Use a hex wrench to keep the stem from turning.
That's it, the assembly is over, now we put the rack in place. To do this, we pass it into a niche, get into the holes with the bearing studs, then tighten the nuts. It is possible not to the end, but only to make money. We put the lower part of the rack on the hub and install the bolts. There should be a bolt with an eccentric washer on top. We stretch all the threaded connections, put the steering rod and wheel in place.
