Suspension condition affects handling and comfort. And shock absorbers play an important role in the design of the car. Replacing broken shock absorbers with new ones will give you a completely different ride experience.
Comfort and handling are two very important parameters of a car. And they depend directly on the state of the suspension. Timely replacement of shock absorbers is a comfortable ride and safe handling. What does a shock absorber do? When driving on uneven surfaces, its stem easily enters the body, but comes out with effort. This property allows you to smooth out all shock to the suspension, provides a smooth ride and high comfort.
Replacing the front shock absorbers VAZ 2107
The front suspension of the VAZ 2107 is structurally made in the form of two levers (lower and upper). The levers are attached to the body with bolts and silent blocks (rubber-metal bushings). The shock absorber is directly attached to the lower arm and to the body. When replacing, it is not necessary to remove the spring as on front wheel drive vehicles.
It is most convenient to carry out work on replacing racks on a pit or overpass. It is quite difficult to pull out the shock absorber on a flat surface, it will simply rest on the ground and will not come out of the technological hole in the lower arm. If there is no hole, then you can cheat by lifting the side to be repaired on a jack, or by digging a small hole (about one shovel bayonet) on the inside of the wheel.
To remove it, you need to unscrew the nut from the stem and two nuts located on the lower arm. After that, the shock absorber can be easily removed. A new rack must be prepared in advance, put a bump stop and a boot on the stem. When repairing, try to replace all rubber parts. And in case the left side was repaired, be sure to repair the right one. Do not install on two sides different in terms of the condition of the rack, this will adversely affect both comfort and handling.
Removing and replacing rear shock absorbers
The rear suspension is even easier, as the shock absorbers are attached to the body and rear axle. And this work is more convenient to carry out on a pit or a lift, although it is enough just to slightly raise the side to be repaired on a jack. In this case, only observe safety precautions, substitute wheel chocks.
Using a 19 key, unscrew the bolt securing the shock absorber to the rear axle. Sometimes the nut does not want to twist, so it is best to pre-treat it with brake fluid or a penetrating lubricant. The last resort is to warm up the threaded connection. But this is dangerous because there is a gas tank nearby. Keep this in mind and try to remove the bolt in simple ways.
Disconnect the rod from the body in the same way. And then put new rubber bands, preferably new bolts and nuts, install the shock absorbers in the reverse order. What does the replacement of racks give? Believe me, the sensations will be completely different when driving, the comfort will be added.
