Kia Spectra is a very good and reliable car. However, even he sooner or later requires the replacement of some spare parts. An example would be replacing a light bulb in headlights. The procedure is not very complicated, so you can do it yourself.
Necessary
- - cotton gloves;
- - a set of new bulbs;
- - screwdriver;
- - wrench.
Instructions
Step 1
Place the vehicle on a level surface. Apply the parking brake. Open the hood and disconnect the wire from the "-" terminal of the battery. This is a mandatory procedure that minimizes the risk of a short circuit in the on-board power system. Find the headlight cover. Turn it counterclockwise one turn and remove. The lid may be covered with a layer of accumulated dirt and dust. In this case, you must first wipe with a damp cloth. Clean the thread of the cover, otherwise, when screwing / unscrewing, you risk breaking it.
Step 2
Disconnect carefully the terminal block going to the lamp. Find the hook that has a spring clip. Pull it out and flip out the latch. Do everything very smoothly. Remember to never touch the glass bulb of the lamp with your fingers. The fact is that during operation, the halogen lamp, which is installed in the low beam of the Kia Spectra car, heats up very much. Grease stains on the glass cause darkening when heated, so just in case, wipe the light bulb with rubbing alcohol before installing. Do all the manipulations with cotton gloves.
Step 3
Insert a new light bulb into the reflector. Fasten back the spring clip. Connect the previously disconnected harness. Remove the side light socket from the headlamp unit. To do this, turn it counterclockwise one turn. Carefully remove the light bulb from the socket. Replace it with a new one and put the chuck back. Now close the headlight cover. Carry out a similar procedure with the turn signal bulb. Buy only bulbs recommended for use by your authorized Kia dealer that serves your vehicle. Installing a different type of light bulb may damage your vehicle.
