Some devices that are installed on modern cars are not available on older cars. These include an econometer - a simple device that measures the vacuum in the intake manifold and allows you to adjust your driving style towards fuel economy.

It is necessary

econometer from VAZ-2105

Instructions

Step 1

Before installing the econometer, select a location on the dashboard. Take a responsible approach to this issue. The device must be clearly visible and not obstructed by the steering wheel and other controls. If the car is old and the installation of a new device will violate the originality of the dashboard, install it in the regular place of some other device less necessary than an econometer.

Step 2

Remove and disassemble the dashboard if it is decided to install an econometer instead of another device. To remove the dashboard and put it back correctly, be sure to read the operating instructions. Take the device itself from the VAZ-2105 and carefully disassemble.

Step 3

Try on the housing of the device at the intended installation location. If necessary, modify the housing and mounting location to fit inside. Fix the device with self-tapping screws.

Step 4

Make a special bracket from a piece of thick sheet metal that could be attached to the dashboard under the steering column and fix the econometer and other additional devices to be installed on it. For example, a mechanical pressure gauge from KamAZ and a voltmeter from UAZ. All of them are made in the same style and are in harmony with each other.

Step 5

Connect the econometer to the intake manifold drain plug. Screw in the L-shaped fitting from the carburetor instead of it, and into it a fitting with a copper tube, onto which you attach a hose. As the latter, use a special thick rubber hose from the distributor vacuum corrector. The transparent hoses sold with the instruments are unreliable and can deform from the heat of the manifold and the vacuum. Route the hose into the engine compartment under the steering column.

Step 6

If you do not want to use a plug for connecting the device, drill a separate hole and cut the threads in it with dies. Then screw the carburetor fitting into it and put the hose on it.
