When using additional energy consumers on a VAZ-2108 car (fog lights, stoves, glass heating systems, audio equipment, and so on), there may be a problem with insufficient generator power. If the standard generator does not cope with its function, consider replacing it with a more advanced one, for example, from the VAZ-2110. The generator from "ten" is almost one and a half times more powerful and has increased reliability.

- - generator brackets (lower and upper);
- - generator axle bushing;
- - generator belt;
- - fasteners (bolts, nuts, washers);
- - a set of tools for installation;
- - rags.
Instructions
Step 1
Assess alternator replacement options. The fact is that the generator from the VAZ-2110 is fastened with five bolts, and the standard generator of the "eighth" model is fastened with three. Examine the cylinder block. In most cases, it has two additional holes near the lower and upper generator mounts. If there are such holes, replacement of the generator is possible.
Step 2
Carefully select the fasteners with which you will attach the new generator. Nuts and bolts must be of the correct size, and be sure to include washers.
Step 3
Use a rubber-metal bushing equipped with a special washer as a generator bushing. The rubber part of the bushing can be removed from the VAZ-2110 generator or you can use the "native" one, having previously cut it off.
Step 4
Before replacing, raise the front of the vehicle to secure it securely. This will make your work more convenient. Then remove the crankcase guard and the right wheel arch liner (if any). Disconnect battery ground.
Step 5
Disconnect the right side engine mudguard. For installation, you do not need to remove the wheel, it is quite enough to turn the steering wheel to the right to the stop.
Step 6
Unscrew the fastening of the standard generator and remove it. Also remove both brackets, first the upper one, then the lower one. Clean the holes in the cylinder block for additional mounting bolts.
Step 7
Install a new alternator with a pulley. When installing, pay special attention to the reliability of the fastening. Don't forget the washers. Before installing the engine mudguard, make a hole in it (opposite the generator pulley bolt) for the socket wrench head. Close the hole with a suitable plug.
Step 8
Connect the power lead and field lead. Switch on the battery ground. Start the engine. Check the voltage with the engine running.
