The generator on VAZ-2107 cars is removed for replacement or for repairs. De-energize the vehicle before removing the generator. When the battery is connected, the generator must not be repaired.
Necessary
- - keys set;
- - scrap;
- - breakdown or long bolt.
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare your vehicle for repairs. Please note that power leads from the generator to the battery are not protected by fuses. For safety reasons, disconnect the battery by removing its negative terminal. Ideally, remove the battery from the car altogether so that it does not interfere with repairs. Now you need to disconnect the power wires from the generator. Using a wrench, unscrew the nuts from the bolt, which is the output of the generator, bend the wires to the side so that they do not interfere with us either.
Step 2
Disconnect the regulator relay. Depending on the generator model, the regulator can be either external or internal, combined with a brush assembly. Disconnect all wires to the voltage regulator. When all electrical wires are disconnected, you can begin to remove the belt and generator. Prepare in advance the threads on the upper stud and on the lower bolt securing the generator to the bracket. This will allow you to quickly unscrew the nuts, since the lower bolt is in close proximity to the surface of the earth, both dirt and water get on it, as a result of which it becomes rusty.
Step 3
Unscrew the nut from the upper stud with a 17 wrench. Now you need to reduce the belt tension to remove it. Use a crowbar or a piece of pipe to push the generator against the engine block. This will loosen the belt and can be easily removed. Then remove the bracket by unscrewing it from the engine block. To get to the bottom bolt, you need to remove the engine protection and unscrew it from below. You can perform this procedure from above, but there is not enough space, it is not very convenient to turn the keys. It is worth noting that rubber bushings are still installed on the lower bracket. They can stick to the bolt, affecting dismantling. Therefore, treatment with a penetrating lubricant is highly desirable.
Step 4
Install an open-end wrench or socket wrench 17 on the nut, and unscrew the bolt with the socket wrench. Try to push the spanner wrench against some body part or the generator case. The socket wrench is best used with a ratchet so that you can turn the bolt even by a millimeter. Try to unscrew the nut a little and push the bolt outward. When you completely unscrew the nut, you need to knock out the bolt with light tapping. When the thread is level with the surface of the bracket, you need to take a sample or a long bolt of slightly smaller diameter to knock the bolt out of the bushings. Once removed, the generator can be removed from the bracket and repaired.
