Tiptronic is a type of automatic transmission with the ability to manually shift gears. In other words, the box can operate in two modes - fully automatic and manual. To select manual mode, the selector is translated into a special groove on the panel. Also on some models, manual switching is possible using the buttons on the steering wheel.

Instructions

Step 1

To turn on the "Tiptronic" mode, move the selector to the right so that it is in a special groove. To engage a higher gear, slightly push the selector forward "+". To engage a lower gear, slightly push the selector back "-". In automatic mode, the gearbox only shifts to a higher gear when the engine reaches maximum revs. Therefore, when manually selecting a lower gear, keep in mind that shifting will only take place if there is no danger of engine oversteer.

Step 2

If the vehicle is equipped with paddle shifters, the manual control mode is automatically activated by pressing one of the switches. To shift upward, pull the right "+" lever toward the steering wheel. To shift gears down, pull the left lever "-" towards the steering wheel. Downshifting will only take place when there is no danger of over-torqueing the engine.

Step 3

Follow the position of the selector not only by the markings on the side of it, but also on the instrument panel display. In the automatic mode of the box, the display shows the position of the selector and the number of the engaged gear. In the manual mode of the box, the display shows only the number of the engaged gear.

Step 4

When parking the selector switch to position P. In this case, the driving wheels of the car will be automatically blocked. Please note: it is only possible to move the selector to this position when the machine is stationary. When moving the selector to this position and exiting it, always press the lock button on the selector knob and at the same time depress the brake pedal. If the battery is discharged, it will not be possible to remove the selector from position P.

Step 5

If you need to move in reverse, move the selector to position R. This can only be done when the vehicle is stationary and the engine is idling. When moving the selector to the R position, always press the lock button and depress the brake pedal at the same time. To start driving, release the brake pedal and press the accelerator pedal.

Step 6

For short stops, use the neutral position of the selector N. In this case, the engine can run at idle, but no force is transmitted to the wheels, there is no engine braking. Never move the selector to this position when driving downhill. Otherwise, damage to the service braking system or transmission may occur.

Step 7

To start moving forward in automatic mode, move the selector to position D while holding the brake pedal. Then release the brake pedal and start pressing the gas. The car starts moving, the gears will change automatically. If during the movement there was an accidental movement of the selector to position N, release the accelerator pedal and wait until the engine speed drops to idle. Then return the selector to position D.

Step 8

To select a sporty transmission mode, move the selector to position S. This will shift the gears later up and earlier down, so that the engine power is used to its fullest. To rock a stuck vehicle, move the selector from position D to position R through position N without using the selector lock button. However, if the selector is held in position N for more than 1 second, the lock will turn on automatically.
