All machines have parts that turn and rotate during operation. This leads to friction, heat and wear. To avoid these problems, bearings are installed on the bearing sections of the shaft. This reduces wear of parts from prolonged friction and heating.

How to install the bearing

Necessary

  • - a hammer;
  • - pipe section.

Instructions

Step 1

The bearing is installed in several stages. First, check and prepare the bearing and the assembly where it will be installed. Clean the seating surface from rust, old grease and dirt. Also check how worn it is, otherwise the bearing on such a surface will rotate, as a result of which the operation of the entire unit will be disrupted. If damage is minor, remove by sanding. Apply a light coat of grease to the surface that is prepared for bearing installation.

Step 2

The new bearing purchased for installation must be in a sealed plastic package, which contains a preservative grease, which will facilitate its long-term storage. After opening the package, take out the bearing and rinse it in gasoline. If it has a shielding washer, it is not necessary to flush the bearing.

Step 3

To install the bearing, you will need a piece of soft metal tubing to fit the inner or outer ring of the bearing. If you are installing it on a shaft, the frame must fit under the inner ring, if you are installing in a housing, under the outer bearing ring. Install the bearing by not hitting hard with a hammer on the rim, which, in turn, should be pressed against the corresponding bearing ring. In doing so, please note that the applied load must be uniform. In addition, it must not be applied directly to bearing rings or to a number of rolling elements.

Step 4

When mounting the bearing, make sure that it fits on the shaft or bore without skewing, as this can scuff the surface of the bearing or assembly.

Step 5

After installing the bearing, lubricate the surface of the rolling elements with grease. Bearings with shields or O-rings already contain factory grease, so they do not need it.
