In vehicles equipped with a manual transmission, a single-plate clutch is used, which is mechanically controlled by means of a cable. The clutch free travel is automatically adjusted by means of a ratchet mechanism located at the clutch pedal. When repairing and maintaining the clutch, sometimes it is necessary to disassemble the pedal and remove it from its place.

It is necessary

  • - set of wrenches;
  • - screwdriver;
  • - rags;
  • - graphite grease.

Instructions

Step 1

Familiarize yourself with the clutch pedal design. Assembled, it consists of a spring, a latch, an axle and a retainer, a sleeve, the pedal itself, a gear sector and its tension spring.

Step 2

Before disassembling the pedal, check the clutch mechanism; it is possible that complete disassembly is not necessary, and to restore the mechanism's operability, it will be enough to adjust and debug it.

Step 3

Check the free play of the clutch cable. If it is missing, it can lead to clutch slippage and increased wear of the linings. If necessary, unlock the automatic mechanism lock on the clutch pedal toothed sector.

Step 4

Open the hood and pull the cable sheath out of the bulkhead with a sharp motion. This will tighten the cable and rotate the toothed sector. During normal operation, you will hear a click of the latch that moves over the toothed element.

Step 5

If the latch is jammed, apply force to the release lever to disengage the cable. If the mechanism cannot be restored to work, replace it with a new one, having previously dismantled the clutch pedal.

Step 6

Disconnect the clutch cable from the lever and pedal without removing the cable itself. Remove the spring clip and bushing from the clutch shaft. Now remove the entire clutch pedal assembly.

Step 7

Remove the bushings on both sides of the pedal and extract the toothed segment. Disconnect the spring.

Step 8

Remove one of the retaining brackets located on the latch shaft. Disconnect the axle and the latch with the spring located on it. Clean the parts of the mechanism from dirt and carefully inspect to assess the degree of wear.

Step 9

Lubricate the gear sector and the latch axis, using the disassembly of the clutch pedal was carried out in order to prevent and replace individual parts of the mechanism, replace the parts and carry out the complete assembly of the pedal in the reverse order.
