Antifreeze leakage in the engine cooling system usually occurs due to the fault of a failed water pump, or its component parts. In any case, dismantling the pump from the engine cannot be avoided. Otherwise, the water pump cannot be repaired.

It is necessary

  • - 19 mm spanner,
  • - 13 mm spanner,
  • - a key in the form of a 10 mm hexagon.

Instructions

Step 1

Work on dismantling the water pump is carried out only on a cooled engine, otherwise burns to the body are not excluded. Thinking once again about safety will not hurt anyone.

Step 2

At the preparatory stage, the coolant is completely drained from the engine into a previously prepared container.

Step 3

Then the tightening of the fastening of the generator to the bracket is released, and it rises as high as possible.

Step 4

After that, the protective plastic casing of the timing belt drive is disconnected from the water pump.

Step 5

Further, by unscrewing the four bolts securing the water pump to the engine, the pump is dismantled, and then placed on a workbench for further disassembly.

Step 6

First of all, the drive pulley is removed from the pump, which is clamped horizontally in a vice, but in such a way as to exclude damage to the pulley itself.

Step 7

To do this, a belt is laid in the pulley, and wooden gaskets are installed on the jaws of the vise, after which the pump pulley is fixed in a vice with a certain degree of caution, and then three bolts of its fastening to the water pump flange are unscrewed with a hex wrench.

Step 8

After dismantling the pulley, the pump is further disassembled for refurbishment.
