A lightweight flywheel is an important part of a tuning car. The addition of this element gives the car unprecedented agility, and there is an explanation for this: the engine revs faster, the engine weight decreases, and the load on the crankshaft main bearings decreases. It is not necessary to buy a lightweight version of a flywheel for a vaz, you can do it yourself.

Instructions

Step 1

The standard weight of a flywheel on a VAZ is approximately seven kilograms. On a lathe, process the flywheel, based on the Singirindi drawing: after such processing, its weight should decrease to 4.8 kg.

Step 2

After successfully lightening the flywheel on the lathe, grab the ring gear using a welding machine. Such an operation will increase the reliability of the flywheel design.

Step 3

Balance the improved flywheel with clutch basket (at least statically). After that, balance the lightweight flywheel with the crankshaft.

Step 4

Please note that dynamic balancing is performed on special equipment (as a rule, it is performed at large machine-building enterprises or specialized firms). In contrast to it, static balancing does not require the participation of special equipment, so it can be done even in the garage.

Step 5

To perform static balancing, place the flywheel stands horizontally and check with a spirit level. After that, install the shaft with a slight interference in the center hole of the lightweight flywheel, and then place the part on the exposed stands.

Step 6

Slowly turn the flywheel and see how much of this element will be at the bottom. On the opposite (top) side, attach the weight and try to turn the flywheel again. The point of this operation is to ensure that different parts of the flywheel are at the bottom.
