To install a xenon light on a Ford, choose the most attractive set of bulbs for you. For a bluish color, focus on a color temperature of 6000 K. For brighter light and closer to white, choose 5000 K. Pure white has a color temperature of 4300 K and shines a little brighter than 5000. Prepare everything you need for installation.

Necessary

  • - xenon kit with H7 lamps;
  • - a screwdriver with a five-sided head;
  • - thin flat screwdriver;
  • - drill with a thin drill;
  • - file (round file);
  • - self-tapping screws

Instructions

Step 1

Start by removing the headlights. To do this, open the hood and unscrew the headlight fixing screw. Then, using a long screwdriver, push down the two clips of the headlight housing and remove it from the installation slot. Disconnect all wires from the headlamp housing. Disconnect the large terminal with a small flat-blade screwdriver by inserting it from the side of the wire into the small slot on the terminal and pushing down on the edge of the handle. At the same time, press the screwdriver against the wire. Remove the terminal carefully, taking care not to damage the plastic latch. Raising the tip in front of the terminal is a signal to open the latch.

Step 2

Remove the rear headlight housing cover. To do this, unscrew the four latches, remove the terminal and remove the standard lamp. Then drill a hole in the cover for the wiring. Select the drilling location as low as possible so that during installation the wiring does not rest against the plastic wall behind the headlight. Drill the hole with a thin drill, then widen it with a file. Pass the wiring harness through the hole made using the rubber seal.

Step 3

Secure the ignition unit by choosing the place of its attachment to the car body under the headlight housing. The recommended location already has holes for the fixing screws. Mount the unit in such a way that when installing the headlamp housing, the unit does not rest against the metal bumper bumper.

Step 4

Inside the headlamp cover, locate the four wires that supplied power to the removed standard bulbs. Note: brown wires are negative, white wires are positive. On xenon lamps: red wires are positive, black wires are negative. Xenon lamps can have other wire colors: blue - negative, black - positive. Connect the terminals according to the polarity, put the xenon lamp in its original place and clamp it with a latch. Close the cover carefully without pinching the wires. Connect the terminals to the ignition unit.

Step 5

Repeat all the operations described for the second headlamp and install them in the niches. After connecting the power terminals, check their functionality. If inspection shows correct installation, secure the headlights. When installing them, make sure that the body falls into the installation grooves. After joining the guides, push the headlight in the direction of the passenger compartment until a characteristic click appears, indicating that the latches are closed. Tighten the headlight mounting screw and close the hood.
