Any system in the operation of a car requires timely care and proper maintenance. The power steering fluid must be changed and refilled periodically. For the hydraulic booster to work properly, the fluid must be drained to the end so that a mixture of old components with new ones does not occur.
Necessary
- - long tube;
- - capacity;
- - new power steering fluid;
Instructions
Step 1
Warm up the machine for the propulsion system to function properly. Then switch off the car and let it cool down a little. Jack up the front of the machine. This will help you spin the wheels while draining old power steering fluid.
Step 2
Open the hood of the car and disconnect the power steering fluid reservoir. Examine the container carefully. There may be cracks or signs of wear on the tank. In this case, it will definitely need to be replaced.
Step 3
Disconnect the tube from the reservoir through which the fluid returns to the system. Some power steering tanks have 2 tubes, in which case you need to unscrew the upper hose.
Step 4
In place of the disconnected hose, you need to attach a pipe to drain the fluid. It should be long enough to be able to move outside the hood. Lower the other end of the tube into a container to drain the old power steering fluid.
Step 5
Crank the engine with a starter for 1-2 seconds. Such a short scrolling is needed in order to drain the old fluid without starting the engine. It is not recommended to allow the engine to run in this case, since the pump will quickly remove the liquid from the tank. Running the pump without liquid can damage it. To speed up the drainage of the fluid, turn the steering wheel all the way in different directions.
Step 6
After draining the old fluid, you must fill in the fresh one. Disconnect the drain tube from the tank. Replace the supply hose. Then fill the reservoir with fresh fluid.
Step 7
Start the engine up to 1000 r / s and turn the steering wheel from one extreme position to the other. Hold the steering wheel at each extreme point for 3-5 seconds. With this, you expel unnecessary air from the system and bring the power steering fluid level to normal.
Step 8
Stop the car and check the amount of fluid in the reservoir. If the quantity has decreased, top up. Try not to exceed the maximum allowed level.
