Surely many have come across a situation where the car received minor damage in the form of small scratches, dents on the fenders, doors. Few people want to pay good money and lose their car for some period of time, especially since it is not so difficult to eliminate the "nuisance" yourself.

In case of minor, "point" damage, all work is carried out directly on the car. To do this, the problem area must be degreased with a solvent, wiped with a clean, lint-free cloth. All painting consists in applying dots using a bottle with a built-in brush. It is necessary to apply 2-3 layers of the paint composition, drying each of them. If the damage to the wing or door is significant, then you will have to work more thoroughly.

Preparatory operations

The best results will be obtained if the door and hood are removed from the car. However, this is not always possible - on some machines, the wings are welded on. Therefore, in most cases, painting is carried out on site. The first stage consists in straightening the body element and stripping it. Next, the surface is processed with emery cloth. If the work is carried out on the car itself, then it is better to grind the body part by hand so as not to touch the neighboring elements. The second stage is putty. The thickness of its layer should not exceed 2 mm, it is desirable to use 3 types of composition:

- basic, two-component (or soft);

- finishing, two-component (finish);

- finishing, one-component (nitro).

The next step is priming. First, degrease the body element, and then cover all adjacent parts with masking tape so as not to stain the surface that does not require painting. The primer is applied in 2-3 layers by means of a spray gun (nozzle no. 0.8) or an aerosol can. When the composition is dry, sand the surface with P400 abrasive, then P800-1000.

Painting and varnishing

Painting a door or wing should be done by a person who has performed such an operation at least several times. In any case, prepare the paint according to the instructions and try painting the foreign surface to determine the best spray distance and paint flow. It should be applied in 2-3 layers, drying each of them. In this case, the surface is wiped with an antistatic cloth each time, otherwise debris will stick, which will then be impossible to remove.

The final stage is polishing. First, the base layer is formed, then the finishing layer. It takes at least 2 days to completely dry new paintwork. After that, the surface can be immediately treated with polish or (in case of unsatisfactory painting quality) sanded and polished again.
