Fog lights help the car move in poor visibility conditions, so they must always be in good working order. If one of the fog lights does not work, it must be removed and replaced.
Necessary
- - screwdrivers;
- - spanners;
- - cotton gloves.
Instructions
Step 1
Drive the car onto an overpass so that the bumper hangs slightly off the ground. This will allow easy access to the rear of the bumper, where the fog lights are located. You can put the car with the front wheels on the edge of the garage exit if there is no overpass nearby. Wash the bumper thoroughly on both sides. This will greatly simplify the process of removing the fog lamp.
Step 2
Open the hood and remove the negative terminal from the battery. This will de-energize the vehicle's on-board power system. Such a measure will eliminate the risk of a short circuit in the event that the terminals of the fog lamp accidentally come into contact with each other.
Step 3
Locate the screws holding the fog light shield. Unscrew them and carefully remove the cover. Find the block of wires that is connected to the back of the fog lamp. Disconnect it. Never pull on the wire! Grasp only the body of the shoe so as not to break the wires.
Step 4
Remove the fog light trim ring on the front side of the bumper. Below it, you will see several bolts holding the fog lamp housing. Unscrew them, remembering the location of each. When loosening the bolts, constantly support the headlight from the back so that it does not fall. Don't lose the rubber pad. Without it, the headlight housing will not hold tightly and may make unpleasant sounds when driving.
Step 5
The principle of removing foglights may differ slightly from model to model. Check your vehicle manual. Also visit the forum of the owners of your car model. Fog lights should be installed in the reverse order.
