Instructions
Step 1
Switch off the vehicle and apply the parking brake. Switch off the ignition by removing the key from the lock. Open the hood and disconnect the minus terminal from the car battery to avoid a short circuit.
Step 2
Clean the bonnet hinges thoroughly. On the VAZ 2109, they are located in front of the windshield. For cleaning, use a semi-hard brush and any cleaning agent that will not corrode car paint.
Step 3
If your car has an electronic hood lock, you must remove the part that is attached to the back. To do this, remove the lock tongue by unscrewing the screws that secure it, and disconnect the wiring.
Step 4
Remove the bolts from each bonnet hinge. It is best to do this with an assistant who will hold the hood.
Step 5
Remove the hood. Carefully inspect the places where the fasteners are located. In old nines, they may be rusted. In this case, you need to cut out the affected areas of the metal, and weld new patches in their place.
Step 6
Prime the metal after degreasing it. It is best to use an acidic soil that will prevent new corrosion from occurring.
Step 7
Paint the primed area with car paint that matches the body color.
Step 8
Install a conventional or electronic lock on the new hood. Carefully drill the new bolt holes. Seal the edges of the holes with a sealant or anti-corrosion compound.
Step 9
Install the hood by aligning the holes in the hinges with the holes in the body. Install the bolts and adjust the clearances.
Step 10
Connect the terminal to the battery and check the operation of the lock.
