During the operation of Renault Logan in the harsh Russian winters, the question arises about the insulation of this car. After all, our frosts are very different from the French ones, and the Logan is a budget car. That is, the thermal insulation is performed at a budgetary level.

Necessary

  • - heat insulating material;
  • - aerosol can with silicone grease.

Instructions

Step 1

The main part of the Logan, which needs additional thermal insulation, is the engine compartment. To insulate it, choose the right material. It can be any insulation from a hardware store or a specialized automotive one. It is best if foil is glued on both sides of the porous part of the material. The thickness of the material must be at least 10-15 mm.

Step 2

Prepare a piece of drawing paper or cardboard. From it, cut a template along the contour of the engine opening under the hood. Using this template, cut out a blank of the required shape and size from a sheet of insulation. After that, try on the resulting workpiece. To do this, place it on the engine opening and close the hood. The insulation should be clamped by the hood so that it does not move.

Step 3

Take another piece of insulation 70x70 cm. Fold it in half and carefully insert it between the engine and radiator, then straighten it. Trim with a knife if necessary. With sufficient stiffness of the insulation, it will be clamped by the pipes of the cooling system and will not "walk" under the pressure of air.

Step 4

If desired, insulate the boot lid in the same way as was done with the hood. On the hood and trunk lids of the "Logan" there are holes for fixing the insulation. Pick up the right mounts and fix the homemade insulation as a regular one. In addition, the thermal insulation material can be glued to the inside of the hood and trunk. To do this, select a material with a self-adhesive base from the very beginning.

Step 5

Insulate the doors, floor, ceiling, rear wheel arches and rear fenders using the same method. On the doors, disassemble the interior trim and glue the inside of the doors or trim panels. To insulate the floor, remove the seats, door seals, seat belts, sidewalls, center console, floor cladding. Carefully cover the entire floor, including the wheel arches and center console sidewalls. Glue the inner surfaces of the door pillars at the same time. Reinstall all removed parts when finished.

Step 6

Place rubber seals around the perimeter of the engine compartment along the edge of the fenders. Close the radiator grill from above by purchasing a specialized insulation sold at car dealerships. During the entire winter operation, monitor the serviceability of the thermostat and the level of the coolant. The temperature of the hot air coming from the heater depends on this.
